No. Successful course assessment fulfils five of the seven required domains. Full accreditation also depends on meeting the remaining requirements and the Music Teachers’ Association of NSW’s assessment of your application.

The founding cohort receives 10 additional group tutorial hours: one extra hour each week across the 10-week course. These sessions provide time for assignment questions, support and repertoire exploration, in addition to the 40 core course hours.

The core course includes 25 hours of live weekly instruction across 10 weeks, 14 hours of practical inservice learning over two days, and one individual hour for a private lesson, review and advice. The founding cohort’s 10 additional group tutorial hours are on top of this.

Teaching experience gives you real situations to bring to further study. This course provides structured piano pedagogy learning, practical inservice work and individual review to help you examine and develop your teaching. For teachers pursuing MTA accreditation, successful assessment also fulfils five of the seven required domains.

The gift is 10 additional hours of group tutorials. The core course separately includes one individual hour for a private lesson, review and advice.

Yes. The course fee is planned to increase for the second cohort. The founding cohort also receives 10 additional group tutorial hours.

Study support may be available through the Music Teachers’ Association of NSW. Join the association and enquire about applying for a bursary or scholarship. Experience, academic record, location and financial need may be relevant to your application. Funding is subject to the association’s criteria and assessment; it is not guaranteed.

The founding cohort is planned for Term 1, 2027. Check the course information for the confirmed timetable before making arrangements.

No. The course supports preparation for CTMusA and ATMusA, but an IMPA course result is not an AMEB qualification, credit or exemption. You must still meet the current AMEB syllabus requirements, complete the required submissions and pass the AMEB assessments.

Yes. Tell us which qualifications you hold and what you are working towards. The course information includes teachers working towards, or close to, these grades. Your starting point and any outstanding requirements need to be considered before enrolment; making an enquiry does not guarantee admission or accreditation.

The founding course is focused on piano pedagogy and practical piano teaching. If you teach another instrument, tell us about your background and interest so that suitability can be considered. A future course for other instruments has not been announced here.

The course brings together foundations of teaching and learning, practical piano pedagogy and the professional work of running a studio. It can help you develop lesson planning, teaching methods, reflective practice and studio policies from the beginning. Suitability still depends on your musical background and current preparation.

Grade 6 theory can be completed through an online examination. If it is an outstanding requirement for you, include that in your enquiry and check the examining body’s current enrolment process and examination conditions. The theory examination is separate from completing the IMPA course.
